Galactic twilight - San Pedro de Atacama - Chile
As astronomical twilight is almost over, the last glimmers of the sun's rays still illuminate the Moon Valley. On the left of the image, the only small and only light pollution comes from San Pedro. The purity of the sky is such in the Atacama desert that the Milky Way is already shining with all its splendour. The brilliant Jupiter on the left is competing with the globular cluster of the Centaur at the top of our Galaxy. Over the Carina Nebula, the brightest nebula in the sky, the Large Magellanic Cloud confirms our presence in the southern hemisphere.
