Tribute to Thomas Pesquet - Opus 9
Passage of the ISS with Thomas Pesquet over Mont-Blanc summit on Sunday, January 1, 2017. I wanted to begin the year with a panoramic view of the International Space Station seen from Plaine Joux in Passy. At 6:52, the ISS emerged from the shadow of the Earth at a dozen degrees above Megève. Crossing the planet Jupiter higher up in the sky, the spaceship reached its peak at nearly 50° above the Mont-Blanc before descending and disappearing behind the horizon. Behind the mountain range the day was just beginning to break, with the lights of sleeping St. Gervais and Le Fayet visible below.
