A thin crescent of a moon embellished by Earthshine hovers over the city of Annecy at dusk. I chose to climb to the top of the Talabar to capture the lunar craft before it set above Annecy. From that spot, accessible in twenty minutes by means of a path in the Veyrier, the landscape of the agglomeration of Annecy is magnificent. The thin crescent of the moon, captured here during the nautical twilight (when the Sun is 12° below the horizon), allows the earthlit lunar nightside to be seen on the surface of our satellite, the product of the light generated by the reflection of the Sun off of our planet. The peninsula of the Imperial Palace in the foreground indicates the beginning of the Avenue d'Albigny, which runs straight towards the center of the city, while the level of light pollution is neatly illustrated by the floodlight illuminating the Basilique de la Visitation (and the sky) on the left.
