The Galaxy of the Mont-Blanc - Chamonix
Camped under the stars in the Carlaveyron nature reserve facing the Mont-Blanc. After watching the coucher de Soleil au bord d'un tout petit lac where I had set up camp, I wait for nightfall in order to capture the Milky Way reigning over Europe. The galactic center is just above the Goûter Needle (the dark peak) in the Sagittarius constellation. Recognizable by its pinkish color, the Lagoon nebula is the emblem of the constellation. The Milky Way continues along the top of the photo in the direction of the star Altair, seen on the upper left side of the photo. The lighthouse of the Midi Needle is reflected in the water, while a group of mountain climbers in the Mont-Blanc du Talcul can also be seen in the calm waves of the lake.
