FIgure in the Double Arch - Chartreuse range - Isère
I waited a long time before I was able to take this night photo. The double arch, situated in the Chartreuse mountain range, is a geological marvel, unique in the world. Extremely difficult to access, invisible from the valley and the sky, it was not revealed to the public until 2005. At thirty-two meters long, it is the largest natural arch in the Alps with a strata suspended in the air. I wanted to immortalize it beneath the Milky Way and with the figure of a man as an indication of its size.
Due to its altitude (1850 meters) and the fact that the sole path of access is exposed to the elements and full of steep slopes and small rocky cliffs that must be climbed, there are few times in the year that it is possible to reach the arch.
I was overcome with emotion during the shots, conscious of being in an exceptional location beneath the heavens, and in the process of shooting the most beautiful nightscape that I have taken to this day.
