Night of Stars 2016 - Montrottier Castle
Nearly four hundred people were present at Montrottier Castle for the Night of Stars Friday August 5, some resting until nearly midnight at their telescopes, as shown in the photo below. The evening was organized by the astronomy association Tycho Brahé, and although the day had been rainy, the night sky was clear. The association provided instruments for the public to observe the crescent moon, followed by the planets Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn, aided by explanations from the club members. The participants especially appreciated the presentation of the constellations viewable to the naked eye, the highlight of which was the passage of the ISS under the Big Dipper.
