On the way back from the total solar eclipse of April 20, 2023, I stopped at the Cliff Head camp located south of Port Denison. Despite some cloudy passages, the Milky Way is magnificent. On the left of the image, the constellation of Sagittarius materializes the center of the Galaxy. Continuing the galactic arch and its many molecular clouds, we arrive on the couple of stars alpha and beta of the Centaur. On their right, above the large eucalyptus, is the constellation of the Southern Cross and its immense dark nebula; the coal sack. Finally, the Carina nebula is the brightest object in the Galaxy, sublimated by the sensitivity of the digital sensor.
On the horizon, a delicate airglow betrays the illumination of the upper atmosphere.
