Shell block quarry - Hamelin Pool - Australie
Shark Bay is home to a tiny cockle, Fragum erugatum, so prolific in Hamelin Pool that in some place they have compacted and cemented into solid masses known as coquina. A number of buildings in Shark Bay were built from blocks cut out of the coquina.
Set up in the old shell block quarry, I captured the Milky Way, home to the Southern Cross constellation, and the Magellanic clouds that accompany our Galaxy.
