The Semnoz station above Annecy is still lit by the snow groomers at nightfall. 1000m further down the stratus begins to form in the valley, lit by Annecy on the right and Rumilly on the left. In spite of the light pollution, the Big Dipper can be seen above the capital of Haute-Savoie, as well as the bright star Vega de la Lyre, which stands vertically above Rumilly.
