In December, close to the winter solstice, the full moon rises rapidly in the sky before passing in the middle of the night at almost 65° to the meridian. While the sun is still shining on the peaks of the Aravis mountain range, our natural satellite towers above the Venus belt, a pinkish band on the horizon caused by the refraction of the sun's rays in the atmosphere.
