Mountain climbers beneath the stars 2 - Chamonix Mont-Blanc
In this twenty-five minute shot, a sky turning pale blue with the arrival of dawn is lined with the traces left by stars. A satellite in a polar orbit comes out of the shadows of the Earth, heading towards the north. At the end of the shot, at 4h38, the first mountain climbers begin to arrive on the Roof of Europe, drawing a radiant line across the Bosses ridge from the Goûter refuge via the Vallot refuge. A bit lower under the Goûter dome, several mountain climbers continue their ascent from the Grands Mulets refuge.
The alpinists wait for the sunrise, due in thirty minutes, on the top of Mont-Blanc, while the path from the Midi Needle is illuminated by another group of climbers, the first of which have just attained the last leg of their ascent. Far below, at the foot of the forthern face of the needle, another group of alpinists begin their climb up the Frendo outcrop. A beautiful day is beginning in Chamonix valley.
