The chapel Sainte Marie-Madeleine dominates Lake Roselend in the Beaufortain massif. It was moved up on the shores of the lake before the rising waters of the dam on May 6th, 1960. Located along the road that leads to the Cormet de Roselend, it seems to gaze towards the centre of the Milky Way, still visible on the western horizon in autumn.
On the last image taken before sunrise, the crescent Moon is now illuminating the landscape. It is located within the Lion constellation with the open cluster of the Nativity just above. The Milky Way is still visible, but in its least dense part, to the left of the Orion constellation, whose nebula appears clearly. The Sirius star of the Great Dog, the brightest in the sky, sits above the bell tower while the Pleiades and Hyades clusters dominate the upper right part of the panorama.
