The village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is nestled under the indentation of a cliff, not far from the Gorges du Verdon. The fame of this medieval village of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence comes from the water which gushed out of a spring to create the Adou and its waterfalls, as well as its earthenware since the XVIIth century. On the sky side, the 30 minutes pose gives the Earth time to turn on itself and the stars to leave their traces in the twilight.
But if you look closely, a star remains fixed between the two rocks surrounding the Notre-Dame-de-Beauvoir chapel. Suspended by a chain, the legend says that it would have been installed by the knight Blacas, a crusader prisoner of the Saracens, who had promised to suspend it above his village on his return...
