Cistercian twilight - La Flotte-en-Ré - Charente-Maritime

Floodlights are lit at dusk in the Abbey of the Châteliers on the Ré Island, adorning the walls of this 12th century ruin with gilding. Founded in 1156, the remains of this abbey bear witness to the power of the Cistercian monks on the island for more than 300 years.
