Panorama of the Alps from the top of Parmelan - Dingy-St-Clair
In the summer of 1887, an expedition guided by Camille Dunant, president of the CAF Annecy, took the Annecy painter Paul Cabaud (1817-1895) to the summit of the Parmelan for the realization of an immense panorama. The painter executed three pochades on the spot which allowed the reconstitution of the final painting in the studio.
135 years later, I realized the photographic panorama from the same place. Note the interpretations of Paul Cabaud who added a chasm in the foreground and increased the size of the Mont Blanc massif.
